About me or the blog?
I will assume, the blog. but then i will follow up with me, just in case you meant me when you were trying to find something “About”.
This blog was created in response to isuru on www.medstudentsonline.com offering to host weblogs on his website, such that every university with medicine could have a representative. So at the moment this is the University of Adelaide medstudentsonline blog, with current number of writers 1, and readers… well who knows?
now about me.
I’m a first year medical student at the University of Adelaide and through this blog I intend (but do not in any way guarantee) to portray the journey through medical school at Adelaide and perhaps help in making your decision to study medicine at Adelaide, especially if you get multiple offers, or if you have an offer that you intend to accept in medicine here in Adelaide, or if you just want to see whether it is worth applying here. (hint: it is.)
Wait… i just realised, you might be asking about the course.
The course is six years long, with three years being pre-clinical and three years being clinical before internship. There are electives that need to be done (most university medicine courses with electives are 6 year courses) but in first year you need to do Biology unless you have done tertiary biology already, which could only the case if you transferred from another degree at the university of adelaide.
We also have the most active medical students society in the country. AMSS = active medical students society (well actually the A stands for adelaide.)
Application: you need to sit the UMAT and apply to SATAC and then have a high enough umat to get an interview and then be selected from everyone who was interviewed. Apply to SATAC as soon as is humanly possible. otherwise you may miss the cutoff date for application. and that would suck for you.
Hope to see every single one of you readers here at Adelaide! that is of course unless you don’t want to do medicine or dentistry (i wonder if i can enlist a dental student to blog too?)
