paradoxical day

what the heck.

today has to be one of the most paradoxical days in a long, long time.

i was driving my friend home after coming over for a while to catch up. was at an intersection with one of those turn left at any time with care lanes… watched as cars sped across the intersection really fast momentarily before realising my mistake, and that is that the car in front has stopped to allow those rushing cars to go past. slam brakes… slow down enough to hit the car ahead with minimal damage to it. actually the total damage to that car is a 3cm scratch that i think would not be noticeable from a metre back. on the other hand the towbar on that car smashed through my left headlight (though it still works fine.) no-one was hurt.

of course crashes happen and stuff, that is not paradoxical. what was paradoxical was my parents’ attitude towards it after the initial shock. it’s almost been trivialised and it’s life as usual. in fact so “life as usual” that my dad randomly realised a couple of hours later that he has a pda which he doesn’t use and that i can use it. yes this is right after crashing a car. tomorrow our plans remain unchanged.

heck, i’ve seen my parents more angry at me for handing in a form a day late. what is going on?!
