Today’s education, tomorrow
Yeah. So the MEQ was nothing compared to this, the SAQ/MCQ. Well actually most of the hard bit was the SAQ.
“I was going to call the police to hurry the **** up and come down here because if they didn’t get here soon, 173 people were going to get raped.” - Tim
And this is the same person that thought MEQ was seven-year-old sister-could-do-it easy.
Seriously, it was hard. At least the SAQ bit of it was. This would be the first year in which the paper is three hours instead of two and therefore proportionally longer in regard to content.
And this is what I mean by today’s education, tomorrow. It felt like a second year paper. I felt so unprepared…
I can seriously say that if you felt good about that exam, you will have done better than at least 90% of the grade. Unless you didn’t actually do the exam and you’re just a reader on here. In which case, if you are taking delight in the misery of others, you should get a life.
I guess the only thing in that that may give me a chance at passing was the sixty-question multiple choice section. Which I had to guess for some. Thereby leaving me hoping for a borderline pass which i shall be content with.

Ah well.
On a brighter note, Affy invited us all to dinner to meet her mother today. Quite a good gathering too. Realised for the first time in 12 months that a heated spa is a GOOD thing after exams. Also learned how to play a bit of ‘remier (yeah some drinking game, except we did it without the drinking) from a few… shall we say, people with experience.
“Okay. Clear your thoughts. Empty your mind…” - Rei, when trying (and succeeding) at making me forget the more funny quote that I was going to stick in this space. Grrr. I’ll remember it soon enough. And then I’ll come back and stick it right here!
Meanwhile, there has been a “quotes” page I have been working on. I can’t remember everything stupid that was said this year so I guess I’m relying on notes taken in lectures and memory. If you remember a very memorable quote, please email it to me (if you have a quote you should probably already have my email address) and I’ll stick it up on there.
Provided of course, it can be verified.

Damn. It sounds particularly bad, but there’s nothing much that can be done if they’re throwing advanced material at you and try and take some consolation that the majority of people will find it tough. If it’s an issue with learning and remembering excessive or highly detailed content, there are ways around that.
Hopefully the next exam will be better. Although I haven’t read any blog entries about a practical exam yet… I’d just warn you all that this is often the most pressurized and demoralizing exam. You’ll be working at what is for most people an unnatural forced pace, and unlike standard written papers you rarely have the luxury of being able to keep time up your sleeve.

i have to agree about the exam…damn that thing was quite hard. at least these exams have succeeded in beating the competitiveness more or less out of me - i have realised i cannot be top even if i try…
anyway, good lucks to all of us!
