Practice exam

Mana • Posted by Mana on April 12th, 2007

Okay yeah i am actually doing a practice exam in these holidays. oh dear oh dear oh dear say some people. noooooo say others. and that would be all the responses i have had so far.

for all you people doing med @ adelaide in year 1 that have no clue to what the exam is like, it is on the med learning and teaching unit website (I’m not allowed to reproduce it, sorry.) give it a go. it shouldn’t be so hard at first… then… it gets harder. :(

Affirmation: I love multiple choice questions. They are so easy to answer. and soooo easy to get the right answer even if you haven’t studied the stuff.

Affirmation #2: Short answer questions (at least, the first few from this exam) are also very simple if you have basic knowledge of the stuff.

Affirmation #3: Modified essay questions are hard. really really hard. they require memory (of which i have little. sometimes i imagine i’m a 1gb flashdisk and i am surrounded by 80 gb ipods. there is just no way i can remember as much as some people. then again i would hate to be the 1.4mb floppy. hehehehehe). They also require empathy (of which i am trying to develop but am not developing very well.

I’ll post my answers (N.B. they are not 100% correct) on the resources for medical students section once i am done

  1. Are the first year mid yr exams still formative? If not then that’d suck.

  2. nup. they count for 40%. yes it does suck…

  3. Probably cos you guys do bio and stuff now yeh. Best of luck for all that, 4th yr is great, no exams till end of yr. =D

  4. nice…

  5. at least you don’t have SEVERAL lousy tests after a holiday (2 tests 2 assignments due within 2 weeks of mid sem break ending - 1 test is first day back too booo)

try having to write a 15 mark essay on the thumb. what the hell was the lecturer thinking -.-

  6. Is it just me, or is there stuff in that “exam” that we haven’t learnt… or at least I’m pretty sure my PBL group didn’t cover it…..

  7. To my knowledge, the short answer and multiple choice was all covered.

The long answer questions… well, they test for PBL skills. so technically, if we were the perfect student, we would know everything that is required for the exam. myself not being the perfect student… i don’t know some stuff… :(

  8. Oh dear… on further inspection it seems to be the stuff about pain that I have no idea about… I guess there’s a very late learning issue for me then =(
