PBL

Today was our first encounter with PBL. in yet another introduction. (third week we still have introductions… there was also a physiology introduction…) Professor (name withheld) led us through the first PBL. which seems to be just a lot of suggesting what things could possibly be and why and what info we need and just trying to “extend that bubble” of knowledge. Enjoyable. Some students are gonna kill me for saying that. But my arm is sore from having the booster injection - i got blood test results today. I’m really really relieved that i don’t have HIV, Hepatitis B or Hepatitis C (not really, i knew i didn’t have them) but i had to have a hepatitis B booster shot - 19mIU/mL was my level of antibody - and the doctor said i needed 20 for the healthcare profession (say… what?!) so i had a sore patch on my arm all through the PBL intro.

Then a big break in the middle, where some friends and I went out for lunch at Rundle Mall - after being reminded of course that Medcamp is on this week and that I need a costume of some sort. one went back to make dinner (don’t ask me why she needed to make dinner in the lunch break) so I and the others went to Spotlight (a fabric store… of which i have never visited ever… in fact i didn’t know what spotlight sold until i went there today.) So now i have this piece of cloth which i have to make some sort of costume for Medcamp. which is this weekend.

following that another anatomy session from Professor (some other professor, name withheld) - possibly the funniest anatomy lecturer ever:

“The brain is not that important.” - Prof. (some other professor, name withheld)

and then an intro to physiology (gah another intro, i know what physiology is… far out…)

Then i decided to head to woolworths again with another friend so i could buy a 4 litre bottle of water. (what, you think i drink adelaide water?)

at the moment: wondering how the heck i am going to get this costume done (never done sewing in my life… except in primary school) and by friday. ah well.

I noticed in my portfolio that i had not mentioned anything about MPPD (medical personal and professional development) so all that blog before was inadequate and requires some kind of response. But not now. *procrastinates*

edit: i have edited some names out. if you know who i am talking about and/or are one of these people - it doesn’t mean that i hate you or anything. just i had a tipoff from another friend who thought perhaps you might not like your name in a public blog.

  2. p.s. is this mana? who writes this blog?

  3. yeah this is Mana and I write this blog.

  4. Hey mana how often do you have to write reflective pieces like that?

  5. Well it is an ongoing thing so basically whenever i like… just it has to be enough to hand in at the end of semester.

  6. Oooooooooooooooooo excellent stuff. I shall be reading the true thoughts of little Tony. Hope i’m mentioned! Amanda goes to Adelaide? duhhhh??

  7. isn’t it a different amanda? as in terrorintheskies or something? and hehe good to at least hear your thoughts, tony, feels like i haven’t spoken to you in ages. Anyway, I sooo know what you mean about being sick of introductions, it gets really bad when they spend 2 hours going through the UNI website (what I went to uni today for!). :S

  8. :) yeah it is a different amanda - the one that posted above is the MSO spambot amanda while the amanda I am referring to is not the amanda we both know hachoo but someone else in my year in medicine at adelaide (yes it is terroroftheskies amanda.)

Now i realise that i have a bit more work and therefore i now have a sudden influ of things to do (which of course is good.)

    btw happy birthday kerenze. :)
